Northern Fundraiser Update

For many years, the Wild Sheep Society of British Columbia’s Northern Fundraiser in Dawson Creek has been more than just an event. It has been a gathering of passionate conservationists, hunters, volunteers, and supporters who care deeply about the future of wild sheep and wildlife in Northern British Columbia.
Today, we want to share an important update with you.
After careful consideration, WSSBC has made the decision not to host the Northern Fundraiser in Dawson Creek in 2027. This was not a decision made lightly. Instead, we are taking this opportunity to step back, rebuild, and reimagine the event so that we can return in 2028 with the strongest, most exciting Northern
Fundraiser we have ever delivered.
We want to be absolutely clear about one thing: our commitment to Northern British Columbia has never been stronger.
The North is home to some of the most iconic and important wild sheep populations in the world, including our incredible Stone’s sheep. These animals, and the landscapes they inhabit, are vitally important not only to conservation in British Columbia, but to the entire wild sheep community across North America. WSSBC remains fully committed to supporting Stone’s sheep conservation, northern
wildlife initiatives, habitat enhancement, research, and advocacy efforts throughout the region.
Equally important are the people of the North — our members, volunteers, donors, outfitters, guides, and supporters. Your passion and dedication have helped build the foundation of conservation success in this province, and we deeply value the relationships and community that have grown through this event over the years.
As part of our continued commitment to wild sheep, WSSBC will also be introducing a new event in Prince George in 2027. We want to emphasize that this is not a replacement for the Northern Fundraiser in Dawson Creek. It is a completely separate and independent event intended to create additional opportunities for engagement, conservation support, and community connection in British Columbia.
The Northern Fundraiser remains an important part of WSSBC’s future plans, and our intention is to bring it back in 2028 stronger than ever.
Taking this time to rebuild allows us the opportunity to create something bigger, more engaging, and more impactful for the future. Our goal is simple: to return with events that reflect the energy, pride, and importance of Northern British Columbia and the conservation community that stands behind it.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers of WSSBC, thank you for your continued support, your belief in our mission, and your commitment to keeping wild sheep on the mountains for generations to come.
We look forward to seeing you in 2027 and beyond.
Sincerely,
Greg Rensmaag , President
Korey Green, President Past-President, Chair Northern Fundraiser
