Women Shaping Conservation (WSC), a program of the Wild Sheep Society of BC, brings women together through conservation, hunting, outdoor experiences, education and community.

A Community Built Around Conservation

Women Shaping Conservation was created to provide a welcoming space where women can connect, learn, experience the outdoors and make a meaningful contribution to conservation.

Through outdoor experiences, fundraising events, education, mentorship and volunteer opportunities, we bring people together while supporting wild sheep, wildlife and the landscapes they inhabit.

Our community includes women with many different backgrounds and levels of experience - from those taking their first steps into hunting or conservation to women who have spent much of their lives outdoors.

To inspire and nurture women by providing an inclusive community where all can come together to enjoy the outdoors, including hunting, and conserve wild sheep, wildlife and the landscapes they inhabit.

There Are Many Ways to Be Part of WSC

CONNECT - Meet women who share an interest in wildlife, conservation, hunting and the outdoors.

EXPERIENCE - Take part in outdoor activities, shooting events, hikes, workshops and other opportunities to learn something new.

LEARN & MENTOR - Build skills, share knowledge and create opportunities for women to learn from one another.

GIVE BACK - Volunteer, attend fundraising events and support conservation projects that benefit wild sheep.

Where Community Meets Conservation

As a program of the Wild Sheep Society of BC, Women Shaping Conservation creates opportunities for women to become involved in conservation, outdoor pursuits and the WSSBC community. With the support of WSSBC, we bring women together through hands-on experiences, education, fundraising, volunteering and events.

 

ELEVATE
A backcountry experience bringing women together through hiking, camping, conservation and meaningful connection. Elevate has also supported conservation work benefiting Okanagan bighorn sheep.

 

AIM FOR IMPACT
A welcoming shooting event designed to introduce and encourage women in shooting sports while connecting those experiences with conservation and ethical hunting.

 

A DAY WITH MOUNTAIN HORSES
A hands-on outdoor experience giving women the opportunity to learn about mountain horses and the important role they play in backcountry hunting and adventure.

 

BAD PITCHES, GOOD TIMES
A fun, social event bringing women together through softball, friendship and community while raising funds in support of conservation.

 

WSSBC EVENTS
WSC is an active part of Wild Sheep Society of BC events, including Salute to Conservation & Mountain Hunting Expo, RamFest, and other WSSBC gatherings. These events provide opportunities to welcome more women into the WSSBC community, build relationships, volunteer and support wild sheep conservation.

 

COMMUNITY & FUNDRAISING EVENTS
From conservation evenings and educational panels to social gatherings and fundraisers, WSC creates opportunities for women to connect, learn and give back while supporting the conservation work of the Wild Sheep Society of BC.

Growing a Community

What began as an idea to create more opportunities for women within conservation & hunting has grown into a community built around connection, participation and giving back.

WSC has brought women together through fundraising events, shooting sports, backcountry experiences, conservation projects, educational presentations, mentorship and volunteering.

Along the way, we've worked with conservation organizations, outdoor clubs, industry partners and individuals who believe that conservation is stronger when more people have an opportunity to participate.
