The Wild Sheep Society of British Columbia is bringing an entirely new outdoor experience to Northern British Columbia.

Welcome to RAMFEST 2027—a high-energy, festival-style celebration of wild sheep, mountain hunting, conservation and the outdoor community.

For four action-packed days, Prince George will become the gathering place for hunters, conservationists, families, outdoor enthusiasts, industry leaders, artists, musicians and some of the most respected names in the hunting world. RAMFEST will combine competitive shooting, archery, education, entertainment, shopping, food, music, family activities and conservation fundraising into one unforgettable weekend.

Whether you are an experienced mountain hunter, preparing for your first backcountry adventure, passionate about wildlife conservation or simply looking for a great weekend with family and friends, there will be something for you at RAMFEST.

RAMFEST is about more than bringing people together for an unforgettable weekend. It is about building community, investing in conservation and creating a lasting legacy for future generations.

At its heart, RAMFEST is a gathering of people who care deeply about wild sheep, wildlife, hunting and the landscapes that sustain them. It is a place where families, hunters, conservationists, businesses, artists, volunteers and outdoor enthusiasts can come together around a shared purpose: ensuring that British Columbia’s wild sheep remain part of our province’s future.

Funds raised through RAMFEST 2027 will support two major conservation priorities—the historic Coming Home project and habitat enhancement work for Stone’s sheep in Northern British Columbia.

​

Coming Home: Completing a Remarkable Conservation Story

More than 70 years ago, California bighorn sheep from British Columbia were translocated to Oregon to help restore struggling populations there. That effort began in 1954 and became an extraordinary conservation success.

Today, those Oregon herds are thriving.

​

Now, descendants of the sheep that originally came from British Columbia will return home.

The Coming Home project will translocate approximately 100 wild California bighorn sheep from Oregon to the Gilpin Range in south-central British Columbia over the next two years. Their return will help rebuild California bighorn sheep populations within their native Canadian range and complete one of North America’s most meaningful wildlife restoration stories.

The restored Gilpin Range herd is expected to become an important in-province source population, providing animals for future restoration efforts throughout the species’ historic range in British Columbia.

This is conservation coming full circle.

​

Animals once sent south to help restore another jurisdiction will now return generations later to strengthen wild sheep populations in the province where the story began. It is a powerful example of what can be achieved through long-term vision, international cooperation and a commitment to wildlife that extends beyond borders.

​

RAMFEST guests, sponsors, exhibitors, donors and auction participants will have an opportunity to become part of that story.

Supporting Stone’s Sheep in the North

RAMFEST will also raise funds for important conservation projects benefiting Stone’s sheep in Northern British Columbia.

A major focus will be the use of prescribed fire to restore and improve critical wild sheep habitat.

Fire has always been part of northern ecosystems. When applied carefully and strategically, prescribed fire can help renew aging landscapes, reduce the encroachment of trees and shrubs, stimulate the growth of nutritious grasses and forbs, and improve the visibility and movement opportunities wild sheep need.

These projects can benefit far more than Stone’s sheep. Healthier landscapes can support a wide range of wildlife while improving the resilience, productivity and biodiversity of northern ecosystems.

By supporting prescribed fire and other northern conservation initiatives, RAMFEST will help put funding directly into projects that create measurable benefits on the ground.

Creating a Legacy

Conservation is not accomplished in a single year or by one organization. It requires strong partnerships, dedicated volunteers, science-based management, Indigenous and community leadership, industry support and people willing to invest in a future they may never personally see.

That is the legacy RAMFEST is being created to build.

It is a legacy of California bighorn sheep returning home after more than seven decades.

It is a legacy of renewed northern landscapes supporting Stone’s sheep for generations to come.

It is a legacy of children attending RAMFEST with their families, learning about wildlife and discovering that they, too, have a role to play in conservation.

This Is More Than an Outdoor Show

RAMFEST is being built as an experience.

RAMFEST will be headquartered at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre, a major downtown event and convention facility ideally suited to host the festival’s trade show, banquet, entertainment and educational programming.

Thursday, April 29

Shooting School

RAMFEST begins with a day dedicated to learning, preparation and shooting skills.

The RAMFEST Shooting School will provide participants with an opportunity to develop greater confidence and ability under the guidance of knowledgeable instructors. The day will focus on the skills that matter when preparing for demanding hunting situations, including shooting fundamentals, field positions, equipment familiarity and practical decision-making.

The Shooting School is intended to be welcoming and useful for a range of participants. Whether you are building your foundation, preparing for a mountain hunt or looking to sharpen skills developed over many seasons, this will be an excellent way to begin the RAMFEST weekend.

Space will be limited, and advance registration will be required.

 

Friday, April 30

Competitive Shoot

Friday brings the excitement of competition.

The RAMFEST Competitive Shoot will challenge participants to put their skills to the test in a fun, safe and engaging environment. Competitors can expect a format that rewards accuracy, preparation, composure and practical shooting ability.

It will be an opportunity to compete, learn from others and enjoy the camaraderie that makes the hunting community so special. Spectators will also be able to follow the action and cheer on the participants.

Competition details, divisions, equipment requirements and registration information will be announced as planning progresses.

 

Friday, April 30

RAMFEST Archery Event

Archers will also have an opportunity to step up to the line during the RAMFEST Archery Event.

Designed to be entertaining for participants and spectators alike, the event will celebrate the skill, focus and tradition of bowhunting. Programming may include competitive opportunities, interactive challenges and activities for different ages and experience levels.

Whether you are a committed bowhunter, a recreational archer or someone interested in trying archery for the first time, this will be a great way to become part of the RAMFEST experience.

 

Friday, April 30

RAMFEST Dance and Social

When the competitions wrap up, the celebration begins.

The Friday Night Dance and Social will bring the outdoor community together for an energetic evening of live entertainment, music, conversation and connection. It will be a chance to catch up with old friends, make new ones and celebrate the opening of RAMFEST in true Northern British Columbia style.

Come ready to relax, enjoy the music and spend an evening with people who share a passion for wildlife, wild places and the outdoor way of life.

The Friday Night Dance and Social will be open to registered attendees, with ticketing information to be released before sales open.

 

Saturday and Sunday, May 1–2

RAMFEST Outdoor Expo

The Prince George Conference and Civic Centre will come alive on Saturday and Sunday with vendors, exhibitors, conservation organizations, artists, educators and outdoor personalities.

The RAMFEST Outdoor Expo will showcase businesses and organizations that support hunting, conservation, wildlife, outdoor recreation and the mountain lifestyle.

Guests will be able to explore products, services and experiences from across the outdoor industry, including:

• Hunting and shooting equipment

• Optics and technical gear

• Archery equipment

• Outdoor clothing and footwear

• Backpacks and backcountry equipment

• Guides and outfitters

• Conservation organizations

• Wildlife and outdoor art

• Education and training providers

• Outdoor travel and adventure experiences

• Hunting preparation and field-skills resources

• Products designed for families and young outdoor enthusiasts

The goal is to create a welcoming, interactive marketplace where guests can discover new equipment, speak directly with knowledgeable vendors and connect with organizations doing important work for wildlife and habitat.

The event’s vendor program is specifically intended for businesses and organizations whose products and services align with WSSBC’s conservation, education, research and recreational objectives.

 

Wild Sheep: The Experience

Education will be an important part of RAMFEST.

Throughout the weekend, guests will have opportunities to hear from experienced hunters, conservation leaders, wildlife professionals, guides, industry experts and outdoor educators.

Programming will explore subjects such as:

• Preparing for a mountain hunt

• Firearms and shooting

• Archery and bowhunting

• Backcountry fitness

RAMFEST is intended to be inclusive and accessible. You do not need to be a wild sheep hunter to attend, and you do not need years of experience to take part. The event is being created for anyone who cares about wildlife, conservation, hunting and British Columbia’s outdoor heritage.

 

Saturday, May 1

RAMFEST Banquet and Live Auction

Saturday evening will feature one of the signature events of the weekend: the RAMFEST Banquet and Live Auction.

The banquet will bring together supporters of wild sheep and wildlife conservation for an evening of great food, entertainment, storytelling and fundraising.

Guests can expect an exciting program featuring:

• A banquet dinner

• Live entertainment

• Live and silent auction opportunities

• Raffles and prizes

• Unique hunting, outdoor and travel experiences

• Premium gear, artwork and collectibles

More importantly, the evening will help generate meaningful funding for wild sheep conservation.

The Wild Sheep Society of British Columbia works with governments, First Nations, wildlife professionals, conservation partners, industry supporters, volunteers and communities to advance projects that benefit wild sheep and the landscapes they depend on. Funds raised through events such as RAMFEST help support conservation, research, habitat enhancement, disease management, education and advocacy.

When you attend the RAMFEST Banquet, bid in the auction or purchase a raffle ticket, you are doing more than participating in an event—you are helping put conservation funding to work.

 

A Festival for the Entire Family

RAMFEST is being designed as a true family event.

Children and youth are the future of conservation, and the weekend will include activities created to help young people become more comfortable, curious and excited about wildlife and the outdoors.

Family programming is expected to include a variety of interactive and educational experiences, such as:

Live Music, Artists, Food Trucks and Festival Energy

There will be something happening throughout the RAMFEST weekend.

Live musicians and performers will help create an energetic festival atmosphere, while wildlife and outdoor artists will showcase work inspired by the landscapes and species that make British Columbia extraordinary.

Food trucks and other food options will give attendees plenty of choices as they move between vendors, demonstrations, seminars, family activities and entertainment.

The vision is to make RAMFEST a place where you can spend the entire day—learning, shopping, eating, listening to music, meeting people and celebrating the outdoor lifestyle.

This will not be a walk-through trade show. It will be a weekend destination.
